Rwanda Partners

Rwanda Partners (RP) is a non-profit, fair trade organization committed to fighting poverty and restoring hope to the poor and marginalized in East Africa. Through projects in education and job creation, Rwanda Partners works toward the broader goal of healing and reconciliation among the Rwandan people and the greater region of East Africa.

Our emphasis has been to train and equip the rural poor so they are able to benefit from the opportunity of participating in local and global markets. Our artisans are members of the world’s most vulnerable population, including widows, rural weavers, genocide survivors, orphans, street children, former prostitutes, and rural farmers.

Land of a Thousand Hills

Drink coffee.  Do good.  Land of a Thousand Hills is a coffee company that pays a fair wage to the farmers of Rwanda, helps them with their basic needs, and brings a quality product to coffee lovers.

The introduction of specialty coffee to the healing fields of Rwanda proved to be an uncommon opportunity for once warring countrymen to not only rebuild their homesteads, but to work together toward lasting peace. A commitment to excellence in coffee has brought dignity and hope to a nation that history suggested would never recover.

Land of a Thousand Hills has reached beyond the borders of Rwanda to bring dignity and hope to Haiti, Thailand, and other parts of the globe. We partner with farmers and local community leaders to develop the coffee into a sustainable income, pay a just Living Wage, and strive to further meet the needs of the people.

Embracing Hope Ethiopia

Embracing Hope Ethiopia is an organization focused on preventing orphans by preserving families. We work among the poorest of the poor in a slum area of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Your purchase of the items on this site not only provide for these services, but also provide the moms who made these items with a living wage. All items purchased here will come with a Card describing a bit about the project as well as the name of the Mom who created the item. This makes these items great gifts for those who are socially conscious.

Sevenly

In January of 2011, two Entrepreneurs got together with the mission of leading a generation toward generosity. With a belief that people mattered, we began a journey to change the world. Our driving theory was, “If we could help people give, we could get them to care.” June 13th 2011, Sevenly was born. By creating weekly cause campaigns where people could purchase lifestyle products that benefited a partner charity, Sevenly successfully unlocked a way to not only raise major funding but huge awareness too.

Apparent Project

The Apparent Project artisans guild uses discarded materials such as cereal and cracker boxes, oil drums, and trash paper to create beautiful “upcycled” pieces of jewelry, journals, and stylish home decor. While redeeming the Haitian landscape, these artisans are also bringing new hope to their families, employing themselves for a brighter future and earning the means to pay for their children's food, shelter, and education. That means less orphans, less crime, less garbage, less stress, and a whole lot more beauty.

Rethreaded

Rethreaded is a faith-based nonprofit whose purpose is to help "sew a new story" for people affected by the local and international sex trade.
Rethreaded is a business for women who are coming out of lives of addiction, violence, human trafficking, and prostitution. Many of these women come out of jail with felonies and need a safe place to get decent work. Rethreaded hopes to serve as that place of transformation. We take donated T-shirts and up-cycle them into new products.

Our relationship with our artisans goes beyond just design and creation. We also work to help them better organize and manage their businesses to be successful in every market. These small companies are a vital part of lifting families out of poverty and building a strong middle class. As they succeed it creates opportunity for generations to come.

Punjammies

PUNJAMMIES™ are created in after-care facilities for women who have been rescued, released or escaped from a life of forced prostitution. Their lives have been marked by a message – you are a commodity – to be used for others' gain.
PUNJAMMIES™ is the vehicle used to empower each woman. Instead of the vicious cycle of her former life, the making of PUNJAMMIES starts her on her own virtuous cycle of self-reliance and dignity. A simple thing like making pajamas is what it takes. With the brothel behind and opportunity ahead in a new, supportive community, she is gradually restored to health. When its time, she is trained to sew -- and more importantly, to contribute as an integral part of an inter-dependent team.

Not For Sale

Not For Sale creates tools that engage business, government, and grassroots in order to incubate and grow social enterprises to benefit enslaved and vulnerable communities.  The Not For Sale Store generates enterprise and employment to prevent human trafficking and create new futures for survivors. Every purchase you make is an action to end slavery --- because no one should be for sale. Buy for freedom.

Noonday

At Noonday Collection, we want to give women in all seasons of life the opportunity to earn extra income while creating a pathway out of poverty for the artisans who hand make every item we sell. We want to create a transparent shopping experience where women learn about the story that is behind their purchase. Noonday Ambassadors are starting a MOVEMENT where women become conscientious consumers. Furthermore, we educate women about the global orphan crisis, and we help support adoptive families in their fundraising experiences.

Hand and Cloth

Through dignified work and the Word of God, Hand & Cloth offers livelihood and Life to women at-risk.
Old Testament writers used the Hebrew word רפא (rapha) to refer to healing, especially divine healing. More literally, rapha means to sew together or to stitch. And so our name, Hand and Cloth, is an image not only of the creative work these women are doing, but also of the creative, healing work God is doing in their lives. As each product is handmade by a woman, our hope is that she would come to know that she is handmade by God.
Our kantha blankets are made in Bangladesh by women who have completed transitional job training programs and now work in dignity at a business called Basha. At Basha, women gain job skills, develop into leaders and entrepreneurs, and experience Biblical values lived out in the workplace.

Haitian Creations

This ministry is not just about charity to the poor…it is about building empowering relationships with the women in our programs. Women who have completed the sewing and beading program have the option of making jewelry and purses for Haitian Creations. If they decide to create products for us, we buy them and sell them in the States. We sell through 2 main avenues: purse parties and this online store.

Many women try desperately to make a living selling their artisan-quality goods but find that they have little access to market opportunities. Through fair-trade practices, Global Girlfriend brings the work of these disadvantaged groups directly to you. Global Girlfriend believes in forming long-term partnerships that provide women a fair living wage with equal employment opportunities, healthy and safe working conditions, technical assistance and development strategies to foster prosperity and reduce poverty.

3 Cords

3 Cords is a social enterprise founded in September 2010 to train, employ, and empower Haitian men and women. Our mission is to provide opportunities for physically handicapped women and men, and to show them that they are both beautiful and valuable. We do this by training our employees as artisans in a loving, community oriented environment.

Our vision is to change lives by providing jobs for women and men to empower them to provide for themselves and their families. In most cases, the women and men at 3 Cords are caring for multiple adults and children within their families. By working full-time jobs, Haitians are naturally empowered, being viewed as hard workers and breadwinners in their communities. Moreover, our hope is that 3 Cords can disprove the cultural stigma against handicapped people in Haiti, and show Jesus’ model of redemption and hope for the world.
